Thorn Gen3
Thorns Gen2 are small everyday carry non-locking folders set up
with a detent to hold the blade in the open and closed positions.
The blade is made from stonewashed CPM-154, front handle is
antiqued brass and the back handle, clip and standoff are titanium.
Overall length is 5”, closed length is 2 7/8”.
Thorns Gen3 are my latest Thorn model.
With a 2” blade length and 4 7/8” overall, these friction folders
are very unobtrusive and easy to carry. The handle frames are
stonewashed titanium, while the backstops are either titanium,
antiqued copper, G-10 or Micarta. Blades are stonewashed
AEB-L stainless steel, chisel ground. The chisel grind ensures that
the cutting edge is safely hidden by the backstop in the closed
position. Clips are titanium.
Though these friction folders don’t lock or have any type of detent,
they are safe to carry with a firm pivot tension. The protruding
blade (in the closed position) also tucks into the corner of your
pocket which keeps it closed.
